Our 3rd Anniversary & The Launching of Beach Bun

Last Monday (26/09/2011) marked the 3rd anniversary of Mr.Baker's Bakeshop. The celebration was held on the day before i.e. on Sunday at our main branch at Batu Bersurat, Gadong from 9am to 4pm. There were arrays of mini cakes/pastries/desserts served throughout the whole event as well as some hot dishes catered from Pondok Sari Wangi. A special one-day 30% discount was offered on all the whole cakes displayed which were all sold out within 2 hours.

In conjunction with our 3rd anniversary and our on going commitment to go "green", we are collaborating with Beach Bunch for the "Beach Bun" project where a certain amount of sales from the buns will go to their fund. To read more about the Beach Bun, click HERE. A reminder to our readers that starting next sunday (02/10/2011) we will have our first "Less Plastic Day" where we will not be giving out plastic carrier bags for your purchase. Thus, please bring along our Mr.Baker's recycled bag or any recycled bag of your own when making your purchase.

I must say I was truly surprised with the number of guests who turned up on the Sunday celebration and the overwhelming response in our FB Page with more than 450 wishes/likes/mentioned posted on our FB Wall. Boustead Carnival 2011

Unlike previous years, Boustead will be having a bigger family fun day this year and it's going to be held at Indoor Stadium car park from 1/10/11 to 2/10/11. We are taking part and we have been informed that our booth number is No.26. Come and visit us as I am sure it's gonna be lots of fun as there will be games, coloring contest, bouncer and launching of the new Nissan Serena.

Hidden Talent?

Never judge a book by its cover, a very true phrase indeed. The wall painting below was drawn by our bakery cleaner (yes, bakery cleaner) outside our comfort room area. I am absolutely amazed by this artistic piece of work as who would have thought this to come from him. I was told that he used to work as an artist back home in the Philippines. Well, it is not one of the best paintings I have ever seen but good enough to remind me or anyone else that every individual has a hidden talent to be unfolded at the right time in the right place.

Musical Garden Wedding Fair 2011

The upcoming wedding fair in October 2011 organised by PDCA Events Co. is one big event that we are very looking forward to. A signing ceremony was held on last Friday (26/08/2011) with various Partners whereby Mr.Baker's Bakeshop will be the official cake decorator. We are excited about this event because this will be the first time that we are going to decorate a wedding cake/cupcakes live on stage. For more information about this fair, you may visit here

Presenting Our Lamington Tower

The response so far on our lamingtons has been promising since it was introduced slightly more than a month ago. We have received quite a number of requests to have the lamingtons in the size of whole cake so that it can be used as birthday cake or anniversary cake. Personally, I find it unusual to have lamington in "giant" size hence we came out with an idea of a tower (see below). You may have it in assorted flavors (custard, mint and lemon) or solo flavor upon request.

We make mistakes too!!

I posted a note in FB about 2 weeks ago with the above subject and the response or feedback we received so far are rather encouraging. A Big Thank you!! The note says:-

"I am lying if I tell you Mr.Baker has never made mistakes and that we have not had a single unsatisfied customer over the past 3 years of business. The fact is we do make mistakes for example, overlooked of customer's order, late delivery, unfriendly sales attendant or even giving wrong order to customers. However, through these mistakes, we learn to improve our cake ordering system, better customer service and time management".

"I am particularly glad to see that some of the "unsatisfied" customers in the past are now regular customers of Mr.Baker and guess what, some have even become my close friends. The message I would like to bring across here is that Mr.Baker listens to customers feedback and we are very open to any suggestions you may have. Lady Bugs

It seems like Lady Bugs have slowly taken over Angry Birds lately as far as the number of orders are concerned. It is literally made of moist chocolate cake with nuts and coated with dark chocolate. The selling price is $1.20/pc.
