I am sure most of you might ask "What's so special about donuts". Well, first and foremost, our donuts are not soft and it definitely won't melt in your mouth when you eat it. Some customers commented that our donuts are authentic because the textures are semi-hard and the ring are not perfectly round. The reason behind it is because our donuts are all handmade and individually fry. We hope that the generous amount of toppings and the wide ranging varieties will make you come back for more.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS!!!


It has been more than 2 solid years of hard work with lots of sweat and tears but I am glad that we've pulled it through. If someone asks me how it is like to run a bakeshop, my reply would be "it's a killer" as it requires a lot of effort, commitment and endurance to run this business.

I have the opportunity to sample some wonderful cakes and pastries every time I travel and I am always looking forward to introduce these gourmet cakes and pastries to the people here in Brunei such as everybody's favourites lamington, profiteroles and healthy cheesecake etc. At Mr.Baker, every new product has to pass through several stages before it is ready for display and sale. This is part of our quality control procedures to ensure the quality of our products is not compromised.

We believe in healthy business competition as it only makes us strive for better. What makes us unique is our strict policy of providing healthy and natural products to our customers. We are proud to announce that we are the only bakery (that we know of) in the country that doesn't use any of the dough improver on breads and loaves and strictly no stabilisers/emulsifiers on cakes. Hence, our products are very natural and healthy. The only shortcoming is the shorter expiration date and the bread easily turn stale after some times.

It has been a long journey for Mr.Baker. I sincerely want to take this opportunity to thank Jean, Abe, Leong, Melvin, Lezel, Sarah and other members of Mr.Baker for always believing in me and making Mr.Baker as one of the premium bakeshop in the country. Well done and I love you guys!!

I have had some really nice pastries and cakes during this trip to Australia and profiterole is definitely one of the good stuffs that I should specifically mention here. The one that I had was indeed quite a big size but delicious especially the custard cream fillings. It is indeed an eye-opener to see or able to taste some of the famous delicacies there. I was deeply in love with strawberries flan, walnut bran muffin, turkey bread, mudcake pizza, macadamia mango cheesecake and cranberries pudding.

I am not surprise that people nowadays are more appreciative when comes to good food and we notice more and more people are having unique sense of taste buds. We hope Mr.Baker's is able to meet the high expectation of customers and hopefully some days in future, our dreams of venturing into overseas market will come true.

Mr.Baker says:-

I am happy everytime I get to sell a cake be it a fresh fruit vanilla or just a simple chocolate sponge cake. It's not about how much profit I made from the cake but it is customer's satisfaction which I value more. A customer just made my day today. The way she described our cake (fresh fruit vanilla) is simply astonish. It goes like this "the layer cakes laid in between the fruits are compact but soft, the special white cream covering the whole cake is refreshing and more importantly, the overall sweetness of the cake comes from the fresh fruits itself". This is the first time I received such a comment from a customer and it has truly made my day. A big "Thank You" to Cecelia for being our loyal customer since Day 1.

Say "NO" to Dough Improver

Do you know that all our loaves, buns and pastries are without any dough improver which is perhaps one of the most important ingredients used in most bakeries? A dough improver is an ingredient used to speed up bread production, improves bread textures, reduce the rate of bread staling and prolong the shelf lives of bread, just to name a few.

Is dough improver good or bad as far as health is concern? I have done various searches through the internet and thus far, I have yet to find any official report or research which confirm the potential harm it may cause to our body. However, there are lots of health concerns going around regarding the use of a dough improver especially the inclusion of enzymes in them.

Due to the exclusion of dough improver in our bread products, you may notice that the expiry dates of our loaves are very short (3 days). If you consume it on the 2nd day, the textures tend to get slightly hard and stale. We used to receive various complains about our bread such as the textures and short expiry but after we explained the reasons to our concerned customers, they begin to appreciate it. We are very thankful and happy to see that more and more customers are starting to appreciate our bread and at the same time, we've learnt that people are getting more health conscious these days.

At Mr.Baker's, we emphasize:-
1) Bread - no artificial textures, homemade ingredients and generous fillings.
2) Cake - no emulsifiers/stabilisers (such as ovalette), less sweet, quality ingredients used.

Mr.Baker says:
The most ordered cakes last year during Mother's Day was our Fresh Fruit Vanilla (about 90% out of the total cakes ordered). I can still remember very clearly that our chef and the decorator had to work almost 48hours non stop to complete the order. This year will be of no exception. We have received quite a number of orders so far and it is more complicated compared to last year due to the specific design we promote this year. I can foresee another sleepless nights again for Jean.

Simple deco but nice


I've never thought a simple deco like this can look so nice after finished. Don't you agree? This is a brilliant idea, thanks to El. We are currently updating our cake books as some of the cake designs have been replaced with new design such as Chocolate Truffle, Fresh Fruit Vanilla, Strawberry Shortcake etc.

We also have some new cakes which are not listed in the cake book such as Chocolate Praline, Chocolate Almond, Dark Chocolate Mousse, Double Decker, White Chocolate Mousse, Boston Cheesecake etc. Hence, if you require any assistance or information of our new products, kindly check with our attendants.


Facebook vs Blog

I just realised this blog has been inactive for quite sometimes ever since i opened the Facebook account. I guess FB is more interactive compares to a blog that's why it's more popular to the latter. Anyway, i would like to re-activate this blog now simply bcos this is still our official blog, so do expect to see more regular updates from now onwards about our new products, promotion, current affair and so on.
